Master of Philosophy

In addition to the general qualifications required for admission to a M.Phil. programme by Graduate School, applicants should have a medical degree of M.B. Ch.B. or equivalent or a recognised bachelor’s degree in a field related to life sciences.

Doctor of Philosophy

In addition to the general qualifications required for admission to a Ph.D. programme by Graduate School, applicants should have a medical degree of M.B. Ch.B. or equivalent or a recognised Master’s degree in a field related to life sciences.

English

All applicants must fulfill the “English Language Proficiency Requirement” as stipulated by the Graduate School before being considered for admission. Please refer to the most updated Postgraduate Prospectus for details on such requirement.

Quota

Every year we have very limited quota and our programmes are highly competitive. All applicants are encouraged to send a copy of resume, certificates and transcripts for initial assessment by email.

Hong Kong Ph.D. Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS)

For the HKPFS applicants, brilliant and highly motivated candidates with the criteria listed below are expected.

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 1st Class Honours or Graduation of Excellence from good university 
  • Research Master’s Degree from good university
  • Outstanding GPA >90% or 3.80/4.00
  • Excellent academic scholarships or awards, good publications and exceptional community service

Besides the regular PhD and the HKPFS quota, there are 4 additional schemes provide extra quota* for the Division.
