SOPHIE Course – Safe Obstetric Practice for High risk and Emergency Course

“SOPHIE”, an acronym for “Safe Obstetric Practice for High rIsk and Emergencies,” takes its name from the Greek word for “wisdom.” Designed by Prof Tak Yeung LEUNG, the course trains medical professionals to apply critical skills wisely and effectively during obstetric crises. Its curriculum is grounded in the latest medical evidence, including findings from our own research.

The program is structured into several core modules that combine focused lectures with practical, hands-on workshops:

  • Module 1: Management of Dystocia
  • Module 2: CTG Interpretation and Management of Fetal Distress
  • Module 3: Management of Postpartum Hemorrhage
  • Module 4: Management of Placenta praevia and Accreta Spectrum
