Biography

Dr Hillary HY Leung graduated from Imperial College, London, United Kingdom with MBBS/ BSc and multiple academic distinctions. She has developed an interest in medical research since early years in medical school and received a research opportunity bursary during her undergraduate study. After she had gained full medical registration in the United Kingdom, she became a Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She developed a special interest in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in pregnancy during the epidermic. She previously reported that the neutralizing activity of SARS-CoV-2 antibody became undetectable in vaccinated mothers about 5-6 months after receiving the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and that a booster dose was effective in retriggering the protection. Her major research area is now in preterm birth. She recently reported that the administration of aspirin from an early gestation reduced the rate of early PTB at <32 weeks’ gestation by 42% in women who were screened high risk for preterm preeclampsia.
