CUOG Research Training Program

A sub-section within the current Visiting Scholars Training Program

This program will be run by Professor Liona Poon and offers visiting scholars an opportunity to learn and undertake clinical research in Maternal Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics. Visiting scholars can choose to undertake a 3-month, 6-month or 1-year program.

Professor Poon aims to provide an environment whereby visiting scholars will be able to apply theoretical aspects of clinical research in real practice. The objective of a 3-month program would be a taster to clinical research with a view to pursue a PhD. The objective of a 6-month program would be to learn research skills that can be applied in the parent institution and for possible future collaborations between the two institutions. The objective of a 1-year program would be to get involved in existing research projects with the aim to publish a scientific paper in an international peer reviewed journal. The range of skills that she aims to cover in a 1-year program include critical appraisal of scientific papers, research design, writing of protocol, organising and conduct of clinical research, statistical analysis, and paper write up. All visiting scholars will have the opportunity to apply for a PhD program.
